LEAP OF FAITH [GLYNIS LOMON/PEK/CRAIG SCHILDHAUER] - Computations (Evil Clown 9001; USA) Featuring Glynis Lomon on cello & voice, Pek on saxes, clarinets, bassoon & voice and Craig Schilhauer on bass. Recorded at New Directions Cello Festival at Berkelee College of Music in August of 1996. Once again this disc features two long works, one as the core trio (Lomon, Pek & Schildhauer) and one as the main duo (Lomon & Pek). The trio is first and it is quite a long epic (45 minutes) piece to wade through. I have become a big fan of Leap of Faith over the past year since they appear to have developed their own sound over more thana dozen discs, each fascinating in its own way. The sound of the bassoon (bari sax?) and cello is especially focused as they seem to move in similar ways together. Spooky, strange, contemplative, solemn, twisted, intense and consistently adventurous. This is the best batch yet!
