LEAP OF FAITH [PEK/GLYNIS LOMON et al] - Linear Combinations and Transformations (Evil Clown 06; USA) Featuring PEK [David Peck] on clarinets, saxes, bassoon; Glynis Lomon on cello, voice; Mark McGrain on trombone, brass; Craig Schildhauer on bass; Rob Bethel on cello; Forrest Larsen on viola; Sydney Smart or Laurence Cook on drums and Yuri Zbitnov on percussion. The only folks I know from this version of Leap of Faith is Ms. Glynis Lomon who has worked with Bill Dixon and both drummers: Syd Smart, from his work with Jimmy Lyons, Raphe Malik and Frank Wright and... Laurence Cook from his collaborations with Jemeel Moondoc, Paul Flaherty and Daniel Carter. This disc consists of three long (23+ minute) tracks. The trio of Dan Peck (reeds), Glynis Lomon (cello) and Mark McGrain (trombone) are the only players on all three pieces with different guests on strings and/or percussion on different tracks. This disc was recorded at two sessions in October of 1996 at . This is intense, focused free improv with a few layers of inter-connected lines. Occasionally sparse but most of more dense. Everyone involved gets a chance to stretch out and push things into a frenzied dialogue, while these long journeys unfold organically and balance things in well-measured ways. It does take some time to absorb these long works. - Bruce Lee Gallanter, DMG

On Leap of Faith: "Alien yet familiar, bizarre yet completely fascinating. Expanding, contracting, erupting, settling down, always as one force..." - Bruce Lee Gallanter, DMG
On Metal Chaos Ensemble: "... using unique strategies to yield densely active and eerily surreal music, an incredible excursion through experimental improvisation." - Squidco website staff
